Drop Everything And Read ?? Today Year 4 dropped everything they were doing and enjoyed some reading for pleasure. #RPReading

Spanish day In Year 4

Spanish day In Year 4 we learnt how to say the numbers from 10-20. To ask and respond to the questions, what is your name? How old are you? Where do you live? We then focused on the map of Spain, discussing the different regions and key cities  #RPMFL

In science we investigated the effects different liquids have on teeth.

In science we investigated the effects different liquids have on teeth. We used our observation skills to record the effects different liquids had on eggs that had been soaked in a liquid for days. We then used a toothbrush to demonstrate the benefits of brushing.

In English, Year 4 have been learning about newspaper reports. We learnt about how important research is for journalists. Due to this, the children worked collaboratively to research different marine mammals in preparation of writing their own newspaper report ??️ #RPEnglish

Tomorrow is our annual @RockKidzUK Day which will be teaching the children a positive message about mental health, self esteem and wellbeing, Children can come dressed as rock stars or if they do not want to dress up they can wear their own clothes or uniform.

We are taking part in CUT YOUR CARBON this November. Children will be coming home with checklists they can use to work as a family to cut carbon. Those who return their checklist will receive a certificate! @EcoSchools

Y4 Design Technology

Year 4 built their own torches out of a range of different materials  We used the bottom of a plastic bottle to create the housing. Then we made the reflector out of the top half by wrapping it in tin foil. Finally, we had to add the electrical elements

Winter Wonderland Event

Mr Couling kindly organised visits to Whitestone Lodge & St Bart’s Nursing Home where our children sang festive songs, chatted & played with residents. We look forward to our next visit next term. We wish all the residents a very merry Christmas

In PE our aim was to develop a carnival dance using formations, canon and unison.

Year 4 promoted the British Value of democracy through our smart school council session. Children were able to discuss ‘What ways can we be proud of ourselves and our school?’The majority vote was to treat each other with respect .

New Welly Stores Have Arrived!

All of our new welly stores and benches have been delivered and are in place, awaiting your child’s wellies! Please make sure your child has a labelled pair of wellies in school as of 15th April. Wellies will remain in school. Thank you.

Y4 Design Technology

In DT we created a range of structures in different shapes. The children ensured their structure was strong and stable by reinforcing the corners. They showed great perseverance to analyse what happened if their structure broke #RPDT

OPAL Update

We have been so busy getting ready for the upcoming term that we couldn’t wait to share with you feedback from our

OPAL Day – Mon 15th April

To launch all of our exciting new @OPAL_CIC resources, we are going to host a launch day this Mon for the chn. All chn need to come in to school wearing their PE kits and trainers, with their wellies also to keep in school. Children are only allowed on the field with wellies.

We are excited to see all of the chn back for an exciting start of term tomorrow. Doors open at 8.40am. Just a polite reminder to send chn into school in their school PE tracksuit, trainers and warm coat for our @OPAL_CIC launch day tomorrow.

Million Steps Challenge Competition Winners

As part of the Million Steps Challenge, @cashforkidsliv teamed up with publisher Simon & Schuster to offer all participating primary schools the chance to win a Library Pack of 20 books. Summer camp places can now be booked on Parent Pay. Sessions run from 9am – 3pm and cost just £12.50 per child, per day. Summer camp runs from Monday 22nd July – Friday 9th August. Children need to bring with them a coat, packed lunch, snack and water bottle.

In today’s smart school council assembly we discussed what we were most looking forward to in Year 4. We had a variety of answers including our school trips, new teachers and learning new things.
